Wāhine Connect Mentees
REGISTER AS A MENTEE
Kia ora Wāhine in Health!
Welcome—we’re so glad you’re here. Before registering as a mentee in our next cohort, please take a moment to read through our FAQs to ensure our programme is the right fit for you.
Important Update from Wāhine Connect - 1 July 2026
Following a recent Board decision, Wāhine Connect is undertaking a structured wind-down through the remainder of 2026. As we transition through this next chapter, JUMP is the only mentoring pathway currently available. We will be matching one final JUMP cohort in July 2026.
If you've been considering mentoring support, we encourage you to register now. Applications will close prior to our final Matching Band meeting on 28 July. We will continue to honour our existing commitments and keep our community updated as the wind-down progresses.
Thank you for being part of the Wāhine Connect journey.
Ngā mihi,
Dr Juliet Rumball-Smith,
Chair and Founder, on behalf of the Wāhine Connect Board
Our two streams of support include:
1. Wāhine Connect JOURNEY (UNAVAILABLE) This is for women who are seeking a one-on-one relationship with a mentor. You will be supported for around 6 months to help you and your mentor connect, and to focus on a number of specific issues, concerns or questions. You can meet in person or virtually. As with all mentoring relationships, the mentee is the driver, and is responsible for making contact with the mentor, and organising and driving the meetings. You will have resources and regular email support from us.
2. Wāhine Connect JUMP This is for women who want jump in to a ready-made network. It is designed to assist women at a decision-point in their careers or personal lives (e.g. considering changing specialties or direction, family planning, negotiating a contract), and is likely to consist of 1 meeting or phone call with 1 - 3 mentors, acting as ‘key informants’ (i.e. with personal experience with this issue, or knowledge by way of position).
There is a small administration fee payable upon registration ($50NZD), which can often be claimed back from your employer. Once you register, you’ll receive a confirmation and verification email—please check your inbox (and spam folders) and contact us if you don’t receive it.
For the best experience, we recommend using a desktop browser rather than a mobile phone when completing your registration.
